Kamryn Carr

Hi! My name is Kamryn Carr, and I am from San Antonio, Texas. I am a junior studying public relations. I have wanted to study abroad since I was in middle school, so being in Italy is fulfilling the dreams of my younger self.

Oh Crepe!

As I wandered along Corso Italia feeling a mix of hunger and fatigue after a demanding morning of class, an unexpected sight greeted my eyes – a group of my friends, leisurely seated outside a charming restaurant. I approached the building, intrigued by the inviting atmosphere and the enticing aroma of food that permeated the air. 

 

Stepping into Crepes De Lune, a wave of contentment washed over me. It was everything I expected and more. Tables scattered across the room were filled with groups of cheerful people enjoying their lunch on a perfect summer day. 

 

In front of me, the sign with “Crepes De Lune” stood out in squiggly letters behind the counter. On the decorated walls, I noticed a frame with a blueberry muffin recipe for customers to read as they enjoyed their crepes. 

 

As I settled into my seat, ready to embark on a culinary adventure, the attentive waiter graciously handed me the English version of the menu. With a sense of excitement, I skimmed through the carefully curated list. My eyes danced across descriptions of savory and sweet crepes, accompanied by mouthwatering fillings and delectable toppings.

After ordering, time seemed to pass by in a pleasant blur. I soaked in the ambiance and engaged in a lighthearted conversation with my friend, who had joined me for this culinary adventure. After some time, the waiter approached our table and placed the savory crepes in front of us. 

 

The sight was a feast for the eyes; the crepes were a mesmerizing blend of colors and textures. Each crepe was delicately folded, revealing a glimpse of the savory fillings nestled within. In eager anticipation, we took our first bites, savoring the explosion of flavors that danced along our tongues. The crepes were a perfect marriage of tender, melt-in-your-mouth pancakes and a savory medley of ingredients.

 

Once the plates in front of us were empty and graciously taken away by our waiter, the sweet crepes immediately followed. Although I was beginning to feel full, I cut into the crepe. The creamy delight of Nutella mixed with mascarpone oozed out. The mix of sweetness from the pancake-battered delicacy filled my mouth and enlightened my taste buds. 

 

That crepe will always be unforgettable in my mind.
