Hello! I’m a junior majoring in public relations originally from Houston, Texas. I am so excited to explore Italian cuisine and expand my palate.

Redefining Flavor

Sunflower Gelato stands near the center of Piazza Francesco, trapped within a labyrinth of streets and restaurants. The creamery’s interior, although smaller than most in town, features checkered tiled floors, a pale ordering counter and a singular cash register. Directly beside the counter rests a glass window that displays a wide array of sweet and savory ice cream selections.

To the untrained eye, Sunflower Gelato appears to be nothing more than another ice cream parlor in the picturesque town of Arezzo, Italy. However, residents and tourists alike recognize the creamery as a master of high-quality desserts and a pioneer of delightfully unique flavors.

One of the most prominent and interesting flavors in Sunflower Gelato’s immense selection is fig fruit. The flavor’s subtle sweetness, combined with hints of mint and berry, provides a refreshing treat in the afternoon Tuscan heat. Additionally, the dessert is infused and garnished with leaves plucked from local fig trees.

In another instance of creative genius, Sunflower Gelato provides customers with a new medium to enjoy the popular pairing of biscuits and Vin Santo. The unusual collaboration perfectly balances the flavor of both nighttime treats with the creamery’s signature custard base.

The ice cream’s smooth texture slides down your tongue with ease while the bread crumbs add crunch. This masterfully crafted flavor is an excellent addition or precursor to any late-night meal.

Sunflower Gelato’s flavors are truly limitless. Whether you select chestnut, pumpkin and saffron or simple chocolate, each bite invokes the same feeling: pure bliss. From sunrise to sunset, Sunflower Gelato continues to push the boundaries of traditional gelato through handcrafted excellence.
